Back when Crockett Promotions forgot that it was wrestling that brought them to the dance and tried to out "WWE" the WWE with wrestling and country music shows combined during one summer’s the Great American Bash tour the featured musical artist was David Allen Coe. Here I am interviewing DAC at one of our TV tapings during the summer run in the late 80s. This attempt to combine wrestling and music on a touring level helped lead to the eventual downfall of Jim Crockett Promotions due to cash flow issues. Crockett had some great wrestling talent, had acquired Bill Watts’ UWF and his 100 plus station TV network but decided to “make movies” and stick their toe into too much show biz. Crockett blew it big time when they went this route and assumed their fan base loved country music. They didn’t. Ted Turner ended up buying Crockett for a song and created WCW which is now owned by the WWE.
