Start ShoppingCowboy Bill Watts had a great eye for talent of which I attempted to learn the same. I stress attempted. Here I am interviewing 3 of Watts' finest young talents in Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert who formed Hot Stuff International along with Sting, who by then had separated from his tag partner Rock of the Blade Runners and who became known as the Ultimate Warrior, and the former Michigan amateur wrestler Rick Steiner, a true star in his own right. There are 100s of stories I will share about the Mid South days, which was ECW aggressive long before there was ever an ECW, and the UWF which was eventually purchased by Jim Crockett Promotions and ran it into the ground by bad decision making and basic stupidity.

Ahhh...those were the days! I grew up watching Mid South Wrestling every Saturday morning on television and the live matches at Barton Coliseum in Little Rock, AR. I have fond memories of Hot Stuff Inc. There were Sting and Warrior still being the skinny, young BladeRunners. All the Expresses, Rock 'n Roll and both Midnights. Ted Dibiase turning heel on JYD for the North American Title. And not in the least General Skandar Akbar's stable with Black Bart, Big Bubba Rogers, One Man Gang, and Kamala.
What happened to all that footage? I was hoping that it would show up on WWE 24/7. I'd love to see a box set of Mid South Wrestling show up.
JR, thanks for being the voice of professional wrestling for my life. The late, great Gordon Solie is there as well, but you hold the #1 spot for me.
