J.R. with Gentleman Chris Adams, left and Sting.

Cowboy Bill Watts always had an eye for wrestling talent and these two young men in the 80s were two of Watts’ best wrestlers at the time. Gentleman Chris Adams, from the UK and now deceased, was a gentleman in front of the camera but often times made perplexing decisions off camera. Adams had a unique style and was a mainstay for the Von Erich’s World Class promotion in Dallas for years. Adams also trained Steve Austin who also married Adams’ ex-wife. Sting was a really solid man and had great charisma from the “get go”. Sting carried WCW for years. Sting’s 45 minute draw with Ric Flair at the first Clash of the Champions put the Stinger on the wrestling map.

The Stinger was so solid back then! I never cared for the Crow Gimmick! No one could ever quite say" Stinger Splash" quite like you JR!!

I remember how sting looked like this....looks cooler now, but that was cool back in the day with your face half painted

As someone born almost 5 years before Nitro hit the airwaves, I first got into wrestling in the early 1990's and the Stinger has been who I have cheered on every since. Bound for Glory was one emotional event after the end of the main event itself and I only hope this isn't the final time we see the Franchise.... The Icon..... step into the ring.

I find it pretty interesting that this angle with Sting and Adams happened after Sting's former tag team partner left UWF, who happened to be the future Ultimate Warrior, who went on to not be the greatest in-ring worker or the most popular guy backstage, and Sting happened to be great in both aspects.
