J.R. Next time you come to Kansas City, drive South on I-35 to Olathe, Exit 220 and try Oklahoma Joe's BBQ. They have a menu item there called the Z-Man sandwich which is a toasted bun with sliced brisket, topped with provolone cheese, 2 very crunchy onion rings and BBQ sauce. It's the best ever! Some menu items I would recommend for your place... A grilled hot dog with cheese, strips of bacon, onions, and your original BBQ sauce or Chipolte ketchup........ next is a "Carolina style pulled pork or brisket sandwich topped with BBQ sauce and spicy cole slaw on the sandwich, its heaven. Coming to Oklahoma soon, I will make it a point to stop in at your place. It's a definite if I can get the Jalapeño Honey Mustard. Lastly.... Did you know they are remaking Porky's for a 2011 movie release?, or so I have read in a couple of places. Who would be your vote to play Porky since Chuck Mitchell passed? I vote John Goodman! Thanks

I heard Oklahoma Joe's was good...thanks for the info. Our "J.R.'s Favorite" has a toasted bun with either pulled pork or chopped brisket...cole slaw...and our Original Sauce and it is one of our best sellers. We also have a foot long, smoked chili hot dog  once a week as a lunch special and it sells like crazy and comes with a side of your choice for only $5.99. Friday's we feature a $5.99 lunch special that is a chopped brisket burrito and a side item of your choice and this is our best lunch special of the week in my view. I like your John Goodman idea. more »

J.R., You are obviously a great success now and I was wondering what your first paying job was. I have a feeling that you went out and earned your success and nothing was handed to you. What do you think of kids today who laugh at the thought of working at places like Wal Mart or McDonald's?

My first job was bagging groceries and my second job was working in an old school gas station. I can't remember ever not having regular "chores" to do as I grew up on a farm.  I see nothing wrong for any one to work at Wal-Mart or McDonald's. Too many kids today feel entitled as a job is a job and being lazy or aloof is not cool.

JR, Any news about coming to Tulsa with a new restaurant? Also how is the negotiations with Reasor's going, I want to try the ketchup? As I said in a post in your blog I would love to manage JR's if you needed an experienced QSR and Casual dining manager who also happens to have been a former Pro Wrestler.

Tulsa is still on our radar for a store but until the economy stabilizes we are sitting tight with the one store. Our talks with Reasor's are on going and we hope to be able to do business with them in the future.
