Sorry if this email is a little lengthy or confusing, but I didn't know how else to word it. Do you think the refs have gotten a little too quick to throw their flags for Excessive Celebration over the last few years? It especially seems to occur when players celebrate a late TD (Washington vs BYU last year comes to mind) or when a player pays tribute to his dead coach (Indiana's first TD of the season a couple of years ago after Coach Hoepner died). That one really infuriated me. I understand where the penalty is warranted, but it's asking a lot of college kids to not show their emotions after a big play in a big game, isn't it...especially if many of them will never play football again after college. How would you fix the Excessive Celebration rule to where the officials can be more consistent with their calls? Thanks so much!
