JR, I wrote you a couple of weeks ago about OU/Bama, and after seeing both play this weekend, I am thinking there may be a pretty good chance of them meeting in Jan. Alabama played a nearly flawless game against a good Clemson team. If OU can execute the same way against some tougher opponents coming up, I think they have as good a chance as any. It will be somewhat easier for Bama as their future opponents (LSU, FLA, UGA) are ranked highly. What are your thoughts on this? If they do play, what about a friendly wager over some BBQ?
The SEC is really tough but so is the Big 12 as three Big 12 teams are currently ranked in the top ten and I think Texas Tech is #11. With that said, the chances of Bama playing OU are slim based on bowl affiliations unless both made it to the big game in the Orange Bowl. A friendly wager might be a possibility. I'm a Bear Bryant guy not a Saban guy.
I can see the ducks going 5-0, easily. Then, they go down to the Collesium to face the Trojans.. That is going to define the season for the Ducks.. If they can pull of a win, I see them going undefeated. I know that's wishful thinking, but it's possible. Our defense is actually really good this year and we have three running backs that can get it done.. If our new QB can do well, I believe we can make a run for the National Title.. OU vs U of O? Hm? I'd like that. Can I get a boomer sooner, in my response? That'd be awesome. Go Ducks!
Boomer Sooner....I will take OU right now in a national title game against anyone if given the opportunity.
How many more years do you feel it will take for the University of Miami to be a player again in the national title picture; I'd love to see a Miami Vs Oklahoma bowl game; but as a Hurricane fan, I think that may be a long way off, as evidenced by the game last year.
The Canes have recruited well especially last year with a top ten class. They have to keep their student athletes out of trouble which may mean recruiting kids with higher character. South Beach has many distractions with which a young man must deal. I think Miami is headed in the right direction, Randy Shannon seems to be a no nonsense guy, and they will always be able to recruit there. OU travels to Miami next year to play which is a trip I plan on making. I think the Canes are closer to getting back to where they are accustomed sooner than many experts think, say 2-3 years max.
JR! Thanks for answering my first question. I couldn't stop bragging to my friends that THE Jim Ross actually, personally answered my question. Anyway, I'm not sure if you follow them much, but what are your thoughts on the Oregon Ducks? They look to have a good team this year. I'm hoping and praying for a repeat of last year, minus the injuries. Hope you aren't still mad about when the Sooners came up to Autzen.. and lost.. due to "questionable" calls. :) Also, you should open up a place somewhere here in Oregon. We love our BBQ. The Ducks will be good. Not sure they can topple USC thoug for the Pac 10 title. I'll be in Seattle for the OU-Washington game in September. Former Duck and my pal Josh Wilcox keeps me abreast of his alma mater.
Two questions...how do you feel about college football having an early signing day/period similar to college basketball? what are your opinions of former Tulsa and current Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe? I have my opinions but just wanted to know what yours were. Thanks
I love an early signing day for CFB perhaps around mid December. All the posturing and preening on various websites and TV networks by the high school seniors is getting old and is much more "me" oriented than it is "team" oriented. Kragthorpe did a great job at Tulsa and knows the game. He will eventually do a good job at Louisville which seemed to have been a house in disarray when Kragthorpe took over.
Does Adrian Peterson get 2000 yards this year, if he stays healthy? also what is your over under on the Packers winning less than 8 games? I love the Pack, but i guess i love Favre more
AD gets his 2K if he plays a full season. There is not another back like him in the NFL when he is 100%. I like the Pack's talent and think they will win 8 or more games even without the great #4.
Hey J.R, What are your opinions of The CFL, I am a Canadian, but i am an NFL fan (Go Pack Go), are you a fan of the league or the canadian game of football?
More collegefootball than pro but in the pro's I follow the NFL as the CFL isn't widely televised here in Oklahoma that I am aware.
JR, do you remember the football battle OU had with Alabama a few years ago that nearly knocked OU out early in the season? It was one of the best football games I have seen, and not just because I am a die hard Bama fan. I think they should meet every year. OU was scheduled games with Bama for three years, and for some reason Florida ST took their places on my schedule...wonder why?
I was under the impression the OU-Bama series was just a home and home. I attended both games and the experience I had in Alabama was one of the best road game experiences I have ever had. I am not a Saban guy but I loved "The Bear".
