I was wondering if you participated in any fantasy football leagues and if so, what would be the chances of getting you to join mine? I like Oklahoma's chances of winning it all this year. I am an SEC fan from deep in the Heart of Dixie but I believe we (the SEC) are going to eliminate one another from the title picture week by week with the exception being maybe Florida. If Oklahoma can beat Texas this year your Sooners will be Big XII champs and most likely get another shot at Mr. Tebow.Roll Tide and Boomer Sooner.
I have no time for fantasy football as the fall is our busiest season at JR's BBQ. Between WWE travel, the BBQ joint, my family, OU games and travel, and writing my days and nights are pretty full.
Hey JR, just wondering with the NFL season around the corner, what do you think my Indy Colts will need to do to take the division? No Marvin Harrison this year but our secondary looks great and our rookie RB Donald Brown could be explosive as change of pace back for Joseph Addai. Also, I remember you had some health concerns a few months back. It seems your doing much better (glad to know by the way). For the Colts to go deep in the playoffs, they need to keep manning vertical, be able to run the ball effectively and play stout defense. My routine and I use that word loosely is mostly cardio.
Hi J.R., I am a long time fan of yours and have very much always enjoyed your work! Football season (Thank God) is almost here! Only 24 days until your Oklahoma Sooners and my Alabama Crimson Tide hit the field yet again. I am obviously an Alabama fan through and through, and am also an SEC fan but when I look outside of the SEC to other teams I can never look past the Oklahoma Sooners because of how respectful their fans were when they traveled to Tuscaloosa a few years back. It was what I called a two year series of "fan friendly" games! Alabama is opening up their season with Virginia Tech, so we'll definitely get an idea of what the Tide is made of after that game. The Sooners from what I understand is opening up with BYU and should likely win that one by no less than 20 I would think. I would love nothing more than to see Oklahoma and Alabama in the BCS National Championship in 2009! I was wondering what your thoughts are on OU Football in 2009' compared to last years season. Sooners are going to be very good and if we can beat Texas on October 17 we have a chance to make it back to the big game. OU will be much better on defense and return all their viable offensive weapons. Their schedule is tough. Saban wins and has great organizational skills, can recruit and throughly understands defense. He's not my favorite but he can damn sure coach.
Hey JR When are you going to get Vince and everyone else in Stamford into college football, how about a little Oklahoma VS UConn, maybe it can give you some more to brag about around the office?
There are lots of college football fans that work in WWE and that includes many of the wrestlers but UCONN don't want any part of OU on the gridiron.
The buzz around here in Mississippi, is of course Ole Miss. ESPN, and other sports channels have given Ole Miss great reviews. Some are even predicting Miss v Florida in Atlanta. Can you see this year, Ole Miss playing say USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, or Ohio State in a big bowl game? Or do you think their still not ready?
I like Houston Nutt but he's got to survive the SEC just as OU has to survive the Big 12....not easy chores but if one does then any thing is possible. Ole Miss should be good but won't sneak up on any one this year as everyone knows Nutt is a great coach and that Jevan Snead is the real deal at QB.
Football is coming around! What are your thoughts on the Big 12 this year. Word is Baylor is going to be top notch. Some people are saying Iowa State may surprise a lot of people as well. Who do you think the sleeper in the Big 12 will be this year?
I think that OU, Texas, and Oklahoma State will be fighting it out for the big 12 South while it seems as if Nebraska or Kansas will win the North. I think that Baylor and Iowa State are still rebuilding and won't contend for a conference title any time soon.
J.R., What are your thoughts on South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier being the only coach to not vote Tim Tebow as a preseason First-Team All-Conference pick? He said it was an error and then told the conference to change his vote but how do you "forget" a guy like Tebow? Along those same lines, I do not envy the coaches in the Big 12 who have to choose one quarterback for the 1st team. Wow, what a decision that is!
I think it was simply an oversight and not that big a deal. Everyone in America knows of Tebow's greatness. We hear about him daily it seems.
Hey J.R. before you got your great sideline view for every OU game. Did you ever turn off the volume while watching an OU game and do the color commentary yourself? Since I'm sure it's been a dream of yours to call an OU game on TV. PS can you hook me up with some sideline tickets LOL
I've been doing OU play by play in my head since I was 10 years old. It's the only job I've ever wanted to do that I haven't done.
Its a KNOWN fact about your dedication to the Sooner nation, but ive never heard you make any mention of being a fan of any NFL team. If you have one, who is your favorite? Please dont say the cowboys!
The Sooners consume all my team spirit but I avidly watch the NFL and particularly the teams with OU representation.

Barring any major injuries and hoping we can successfully navigate the #3 ranked schedule in college football, I feel OU will be in the National Title hunt. Winning the Big 12 is going to be a chore...winning our division is going to be a war.
