J.R.- I'm not exactly sure where this question fits in, but I'll ask it anyhow. Has there ever been anyone famous who you were a bit "starstruck" upon meeting? Also, I know you are a devout John Wayne fan. Did you ever get to meet The Duke? Looking forward to getting my hands on the Spicy BBQ Sauce when it's released.
I never met John Wayne but that would have been so awesome. I was a little awestruck when I met Mickey Mantle for the first time.
Barnett vs. Fedor is confirmed for Affliction 3 in August. Do you think Barnett will survive the first round? As I read 68% of Fedor's opponents couldn't.
Well, I hope so. Perhaps Barnett can get Fedor off Fedor's feet so the punches aren't so lethal.

I do watch the playoffs a great deal. I have no team that I live and die with which makes watching less stressful. I just hope that OKC gets to draft Blake Griffin.

Hi J.R., I am looking forward to UFC 100 and to the fight between interim heavyweight champion Frank Mir and new heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. I am an old WWE fan who watched Brock Lesnar when he first entered and then finally left the company. He left an impression on me. I am hoping he defeats Mir in this grudge match this July in what will be only his fourth match in UFC and maybe redeems himself in the eyes of the hardcore fans. I am also hoping that it will be a good fight. They both seem to be taking this fight very seriously and from what I hear both are training hard. Do you have a favorite in this fight? Is it a fight that you want to see and are willing to pay to see on PPV? And finally the question I haven't really wanted to contemplate myself what if Brock Lesnar loses? What does that mean to you as an observer and what could that mean for Brock and MMA? If he wins does that mean he has the ability to take on fighters of say Fedor Emelianenko's caliber (the Pride heavyweight champ) or better? Brock said it himself he is 32 young and only going to get improve from here on out.
I will watch UFC 100 on PPV and am pulling for Brock Lesnar all the way. I am proud of his success and he will get better and has the perfect temperament for UFC competition even though some MMA purists will never embrace Brock because of his WWE background. That mindset is ridiculous but it is what it is.
What do you think of the rumors going around that this "new mystery Middleweight that will take over the Middleweight Division" they are going sign is Cung Le - who many people believe he would beat Anderson Silva; but then again, just as many people believe he would get mauled Silva. Lots of rumors going around. I don't think Le will end up coming to the UFC though. He's to into the movies now.
Don't have an answer for you on this one. Someone will eventually beat Anderson Silva in his weight class but it obviously won't be easy however it will happen unless Silva gets out of MMA prematurely.
Hi JR, it's Hatton-Pacquiao this weekend as I'm sure you're well aware of. Just wanted your thoughts before these two ring warriors go toe-to-toe, and who would your money be on (if you were a gambling man that is)?
I love both men's spirit and will. I think the fight won't go the distance and I feel that Pacquiao wins over a great fighter. This could be the fight of the year.
Shane Carwin has me shaking in my boots. He is almost as big as Lesnar and he has bigger gloves. He also has a 11-0 record with all wins coming in first round. He just recently beat Gabriel Gonzaga by 59 second KO with a short right (tremendous power) which made him be a top contendor. His next opponent is most likely Cheick Kongo, and Carwin should run through Kongo easily. And if that happens, and Brock beats Mir, Brock's likely opponent is Shane Carwin. I'm scared!! I dont want Brock to lose but Shane hits so damn hard, but I think Brock will just wrestle him down and pound him out. Thoughts?
I don't want Brock to lose either but if he fights long enough in the UFC it is bound to happen. When fighters get older and lose their legs, so to speak, they become victims.
Hey JR, this one's regarding the KU basketball team. With every key component of the team returning next year the 'Hawks seem like an easy pick for preseason #1 next year. Do you think they can go all the way and make it 2 championships in 3 years? Keep in mind that they have another solid recruiting class coming in, and they have a chance to add two or three more top recruits (thanks to Calipari's jump to Kentucky).
With both of Oklahoma's Henry brothers committing to Okie native Bill Self, I would say the Jayhawks will be the pre-season #1 team in college hoops next season. I officiated high school basketball when Bill Self played at Edmond High School and called some of his games when he was a solid, point guard.
