Greetings again JR from Wilmington NC, i hope you are doing better, we miss you on the tube, but your health comes first.I noticed in your blog you mentioned Manny vs Money is the fight you want to see.I would love to see it myself. Both men are fast and tuff. So I have 2 questions. Who would be your pick to win that fight? And also, I have noticed that recently wrestlers have been escorting boxers to the ring at boxing events.Is this an attempt by WWE to promote (and add some legitimacy) or simply just friends helping each other out? Thanks again for all you do for all of us.
If Floyd trained like a maniac and took the fight dead serious I would give Mayweather a slight lean but I love how Manny fights. I don't know the relationship between wrestlers and boxers other than they are usually just friends.
Hey J.R. I hope you are getting better. I am watching the Dinner Impossible show on the food network and it got me thinking about the talk about the WWE Channel. Would you do a cooking show if offered? I am talking like a Bobby Flay type of show or something along those lines. I would love to get cooking tips from you without a doubt sir. Jeff
Yes...I would be interested in doing some free lance work on the Food Network especially if it involved the genre of BBQ.
You didn't have a category for "Dinner Impossible", so I chose BarBQ! I am a big fan of Dinner Impossible and Robert Irvine. Very much enjoyed that you were on there! You added an excellent angle, though, for obvious reasons, Gail Kim was the big upstage-r (forgive my grammatic license). Too bad you didn't get to complete the cooking part of the mission. How was it to work with Robert Irvine? He is tough in the kitchen, but knows his stuff, although I am curious as to how much "staging or scripting" is done for the show, or is it as it is seen with the finished product? Hope you're doing well, as I was not aware of your poor health. I see you on the bench at football games on tv. I have a cousin who is also on the sidelines, and is a "big brass" in the athletic department. However, I am NOT a fan....more of a rival (ok, totally a rival). I remember watching you officiate a basketball playoff game in McAlester back in the mid-80's on a recruiting evaluation trip. As I said, good luck with your health!
Wow...very interesting email especially when you got to the part about my officiating hoops. Some fans will h ave a hard time believing that one! Chef Irvine was a cool dude and really has his stuff together. The entire crew were neat guys and many of them big wrestling fans. I had to leave "early" which was after about 6 hours there to go prep for the Summerslam broadcast which made my day about 18 hours long. I really enjoyed working with the "Dinner Impossible" guys and would love to do more projects on the Food Network.
In your opinion, who (other than yourself!) was the best referee. (To me they're an integral part of the story when it comes to a match) Get well soon and keep up the good work!
I'm not on that list....Tommy Young...Scrappy McGowan...Nick Patrick...Earl Hebner...Jerry Usher...Red Shoes Dugan...among many as I did not see all the greats ones in the territory days before cable TV. Mike Chioda and Scott Armstrong do a nice job for WWE in my view.
JR, Thank you for taking my email. I wished to clarify that i wasnt suggesting you had been involved in any sort of Michael Cole backlash, but i felt the fans often seemed to be a little hard on him. I guess, however, a 'pro Michael Cole' sign wouldnt have sparked the same sort of reaction that this one clearly did... ..I think the Beatles are overrated...but it doesnt mean i dont like them :) Maybe I should get an autograph out of all of this? Hello J.R., First I want to wish you good health, a complete recovery, and a return to our television screens in one form or another. Second, I want to compliment all of your BBQ products, but especially your Chipolte ketchup...it is AWESOME! My question is, with UFC 105 being broadcast on Spike TV, do you ever see the WWE promoting a PPV quality broadcast on network TV? I think a Sunday night special like King of the Ring or Night of Champions could pull a big rating on NBC or USA Network. Thank you for your time sir, Jason
That would be a question for USA and WWE but I could see it happening but for it to be wrestling heavy might not be in the cards.
JR, I wish you well so you make it your goal (and fans' goal!) of announcing soon. But a hypothetical question: say the docs say you shouldn't do the full-time WWE schedule, or the WWE outrageously said it doesn't want you back in the booth, would you consider another, less stressful role within the company? An on-screen manager, general manager or talent scout perhaps?
I like the term less stressful role but I don't know that I have to be on TV to be an asset to WWE. Weekly TV travel in the stressful world of WWE TV is challenging. Whatever contract we come up with will be a win/win.
Just a thought: What would you do if (When you were on RAW; Maria did Kiss Cam) the camera went to you and The King. How'd you react? or something? Also, do you remember when someone in england proposed to his girlfriend, but then the camera moves after a while just to see a couple of lesbos kissing? (Though I dont mind that lol,, but yeah.)
We acted naturally and hoped the camera moved along. Showing JR and The King on the Kiss Cam was a waste of time.
Hello Mr.J.R, I love how honest you are about every subject or question. I know you probably don't remember but, after wrestlemania 24 WWE taped a match for Sunday Night Heat. It was a match between Snitsky vs J.T. Flash. a indy wrestler here in South Florida. I heard after the match Johnny Ace sent him to Tampa for a week. The kid has alot of talent I was wondering why guys like that don't get sign. And when you watch FCW matches on youtube it's amazing how bad those guys are and they get signed. I grew up watching Gordon Solie and Championship Wrestling from Florida and was trained by Boris Malenko at the Global Wrestling Alliance in South Florida back in 87. The company was run at the by Bob Roop, Boris Malenko, Rusty Brooks and Dr. Red Roberts. So, I have a good understanding on how a good match should be. Thanks Mr. Jim Ross.
Don't know how the guy did or is doing. I am rarely involved in the developmental program or the recruitment of the athletes that they send there.
