JR, heard today that in addition to the new Champions Bowl, rumor is that Florida State, Miami and Clemson are going to join the Big 12 and the conference championship game will be reinstated. If you ask me, this is going to make it too hard for the Sooners year in/year out. Would have to win a tough conference title game just to make the champions bowl and/or the national semi-finals. It will be a lot harder than ever before to reach the national title game. I'm worried this is going to hurt recruiting. Players come to OU because we get results. This new setup could have it where there are too many years when the Sooners don't win, show or place. I guess we're seeing about the last of the Sooners in the Rose Bowl...

J.R.'s Answer:

Just rumors at this point but competition makes everyone better as a rule. Big 12 needs 12 teams IMO.

 An interview for what outlet?

Boomer Sooner Asks:

JR. after the Sooners sorry performance against OSU on Saturday, you have to agree that heads need to roll. I mean first we get beat by Texas Tech *at home* and then lose to Baylor(!) and then get whooped by State. That was over a hundred points we gave up in those three games. Bret Venables needs to go. Stoops needs to show that he won't stand for such a poor defensive performance. If he doesn't fire Venables, Stoops is showing that 8-3 with three conference losses giving up high scores is acceptable. We are already in danger recruiting wise because the Big 12 has been so weakened, but if we are suddenly seen as second division its going to mean more of the best Oklahoma players going to State. Pretty soon we'll be getting whooped by State every year! JR. call for Venables ouster! Do it publicly on Twitter. Show people that you won't stand for another sorry ass season like this one! Boomer Sooner!

J.R.'s Answer:

I'm as disappointed as you are but I'm not ready to push the panic button. Coach Stoops will handle things properly. Sooner fans are spoiled and many feel entitled. 9-3 isn't a disaster.

Hey JR, New England Patriots fan here. Just wanted to know what you thought of Wes Welker's season so far. I know he is originally from Oklahoma. I have to tell you I've never seen someone with so much heart put it out all on the field!

J.R.'s Answer:

Welker is extraordinary w/ a massive heart, desire and is a 'gamer.' much like OU's Ryan Broyles.

What American city would be your pick to be a new home of an NFL team?

J.R.'s Answer:

 Easy...Los Angeles.

SEC media day today as the college football season inches closer and closer!!! When do we get good ol' J.R.'s fearless predictions??? Do Jones, Broyles & OU steamroll big 12 in route to New Orleans & BCS title game? And if so, who's on the other sidelines? I'm predicting Oklahoma vs Wisconsin for title. Love Wilson & that running game combined w/ (on paper) down yrs for michigan, ohio st, penn st and iowa. That should set them up for Big 10 title & in line for BCS title game. And what are your thoughts on bringing Arkansas over to Big 12?? do you think that would help or hurt Arkansas' national profile? Thanks for your thoughts!!!

J.R.'s Answer:

OU has a chance to be very good but Sept 17 at FSU will be a huge test. Sooners have lots of returning talent. Anxious to see how well the defense plays. Injuries will be the key thing to avoid as goes for all teams. I don't see Arkansas leaving the SEC because of the money. I'd love to see the Hogs in the same league with OU and Texas.

Hi J.R. First of all, I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoy your products. I absolutely love the Chipotle ketchup! I was wondering what you thought of Russell Wilson going to Wisconsin. Do you think the Badger's are now the Big 10 favorites and, perhaps, National Championship contenders? I'm a Wisconsin fan and am very happy that Wilson decided to go to UW. Thank you for everything you do J.R. and hope your surgery recovery continues to go well. Marc

J.R.'s Answer:

Keep using that Chipotle Ketchup! Wilson's a great QB and with the Badgers O-line tradition, Wilson should thrive if he fits in the system and in Madison. hard to say who has the nod in the jumbled up Big 10 race. Should be a fun season.

Do you see Boomer Sooner & Nebraska having a home-home non conference football series in the future ? It was a great series, great memories for both sides! Will miss what used to be the biggest & best series in college gridiron! Best of luck to you & healing up!!!

J.R.'s Answer:

That woud be great but I don't see it happening.

Boomer Sooner Asks:

JR, the Dallas Morning News and some other legit sites are reporting that Ohio State, looking to restore their tarnished program, has Bob Stoops on its short list. They've got an interim coach for the coming season but long term they need a big name who has a sterling reputation and would lay down the law with the players. As an Ohio native, Youngstown being right in the middle of Buckeye nation, wouldn't OSU be almost like a dream job for Bob? If the Buckeyes tell Bob to name his price to come in after finishing this coming season, you think he'd be tempted?

J.R.'s Answer:

Every major job that comes open in college football has Bob Stoops as a 'leading candidate' but he's not going anywhere. Dallas Morning News loves to stir it up which then in turn disrupts recruiting of OU prospects in Texas. Same old story just with a different college in question. Not to worry.

J.R. thanks for the forum. I wanted to get your opinion on the 3 D/FW Schools. SMU, TCU's Recent Success i.e. Gary Patterson, Andy Dalton, etc, and my Alma Mater UNT. UNT just hired Dan Mccarney (former Iowa State coach) and we are moving into our brand new stadium this year.

J.R.'s Answer:

Patterson has done a marvelous job at TCU and one could assume that he will head for larger and greener pastures at some point. He's a helluva football coach. June Jones is a super guy who I got to know in Atlanta when he was coach of the Falcons. Very intelligent and somewhat laid back. Would be a fun guy to play for and if he can continue to build in roads into the metroplex recruiting base and Texas in general as Patterson has SMU will become relevant again o n  a consistent basis. I've never understood why NTS, in such a fertile recruiting area, couldn't be competitive. more »
