Heading to Manhattan, Kansas to take in a key, Big 12 game with my Sooners traveling north to face the Kansas State Wildcats. Slobber Knocker time in the Little Apple so watch for the balck hat on the OU sideline on ABC TV this Saturday at 3:30 pm ET. No drinking games, please.
Lots of rumors regarding the WWE HOF inductions for 2016 floating around. I will believe them when I see them but there certainly isn't a shortage of viable candidates. Obviously, the Freebirds will be getting a great deal of support because it's Dallas and their rivalry with the Von Erich's there was the stuff of legend at one point in time. The key is to monitor how many inductees are being presented posthumously. That will always be an issue that WWE has to consider along with gender and ethnicity. I'd submit that Sting would be a great HOF candidate this coming year.
Almost tempted to drive to Jackson, Tennessee on October 24 to see Jerry Lawler face Terry Funk in a match being billed as "The Final Stand" of which we hope isn't literal....that was humor, BTW. This event will be held in honor of Lance Russell, the famed Memphis Wrestling broadcaster, who was arguably as good as anyone ever was behind the mic and was originally from Jackson. For info visit www.OmanWrestling.com.
BTW, Lance Russell, along with PWI's Dan Murphy, will be on the Ross Report Podcast next week with the show dropping Tuesday evening at 9 ET. I'm excited about that show.
Really liking the up-side of NXT's Jason Jordan and Chad Gable either as a team or positioned as individuals. Seems to me that Jordan, former Indiana Hoosier heavyweight, has been ready for a good while. Nonetheless all talents ar better suited to stay in NXT until WWE creative has a grand way to introduce them. In today's marketplace one's introduction and their first 6 months of their call up are essential.
The Great Khali Cement TV commercial is great. Google it.
Smart move by WWE aligning with ESPN. Creates awareness to a new, sports centric audience and may entice displaced fans, and there are plenty of those out there, back to the brand.
Enjoyed Impact Wrestling Wednesday night on Destination America. TNA is making chicken salad out of their tournament format which I thought was a good presentation.
Thought the one hour ROH show Wednesday night was a good TV show too. Those one and two hour presentations simply get the nod over the three hour broadcasts.
Very cool that Paige is going to appear on the Conan O'Brien show next Tuesday on TBS, my former employer, to promote WWE's LA emanated Hell in a Cell event on Sunday Oct 25. Nice commitment by WWE to utilize every one on the roster which is strategic and makes all involved a bigger 'star.' Conan's side kick Andy Richter is a life long pro wrestling fan.
Undertaker is returning to action for WWE this weekend in Mexico which bodes well for WWE and their fans. Just curious as to who Taker is wrestling and how their match will be perceived.
Enjoyed being on the Taz show this morning and you can listen to it by going to www.tazshow.com. Great show with AJ Styles and yours truly. I'm on Taz' show every Friday morning at 8:30 am ET.
